Why We Charge For Print Subscriptions
By: Larry
I made the decision to charge for the print subscription to allow as many people as possible to have access to the magazine. If we would have given the print edition away for free, like many trade publishers do, we would have had to cap circulation at around 10,000 before our printing and mailing costs would force us to have to charge advertising rates that would be too steep for what the industry can afford at this time. By offering the digital and podcast editions for free we can literally allow millions to have access to the content without having to significantly raise our advertising rates. Hope you understand.

Larry,
With so many media outlets turning to on-line only (InfoWorld for instance), and considering your focus, I was actually surprised you were even offering a print version. But then again, I suppose that there are those who, even though they’ve embraced “new media,” continue to prefer the comfortable ease and portability of “old media.” As a hopeless pack-rat and clutter collector, I’m a huge fan of digital versions, but those more organized than I may still appreciate good ol’ print.
Anyway, looking forward to reading what you offer!

I think there will always be some market for print versions of magazines, after all there are certain “libraries” you can’t easily take your laptop!
